PageAlert is a paging notification network developed by local radio consultant, hobbyist, and columnist Michael Redman. It is designed for those who enjoy, or in some cases, have a need to obtain up-to-the-minute information on important local information heard on active area radio frequencies without having to constantly monitor or scan hundreds of radio channels. The program is sponsored by American (formerly Verizon) Paging.

PageAlert was formed in 1993 as a digital paging network presenting the frequency of the event followed by an incident code. In late 1996, the program was expanded to permit alpha-numeric paging, providing even more information about breaking events in the area. Members contact dedicated volunteer dispatchers who then "page" the information.

PageAlert is the premiere notification network of its kind in the St. Louis area, and the only area system providing information on all types of major public safety events occurring in the coverage area. As members increase, so will covered events. Over 5000 PageAlert pages have been made since the program's conception.

Joining PageAlert

If you are a member of Page-Alert, a past member wishing to return, or someone interested in getting started, contact Mike Redman who will put you in contact with the local American representative.  Potential customers would still have paging service options and a personal paging number as well as the Page-Alert service.  Potential customers may have to purchase the pager as was the case with some Airtouch customers.  News, weather, and other "datacast" options would likely continue.

Paging continues by several Page-Alert dispatchers, paging significant events as they develop.

Please check this site from time to time for developments, as new information will be posted as learned.
